welcome to Japan!!

Overview

'Yokoso'! Welcome to Japanese Odyssey - a journey through time and culture of the jewel of the Orient.

In this program, we'll take a first hand look at Japan's rich tradition and culture. From ancient capital cities as Kyoto and Nara, to rural towns, and to metropolitan Tokyo we travel, from west to east, moving up along the chronology of history and discovering local cultures that form Japan today. Day by day, deeper the autumn colors shall become as we travel.

Our Journey begins from Kyoto, the heartland of Japanese. Here we explore the aristocratic air and tradition of the old capital city dating back to the 8th century. During the 5 days, we will take a one-day trip to Nara, the oldest capital city in Japan. This will take us back to the early days as the 6th century, when Buddhism was introduced. After Kyoto, we travel to Takayama, where we spend 2 days venturing a sample of rural culture that flourished mainly during the feudal period of the 17th century and onward. The last day inthe western region will be a visit to Shirakarwa-go, a World Heritage village as in a folktale, where life is still deeply related to nature. Our next destination is Tokyo, where we stay for total 4 days, venturing the Edo culture and contemporary Japan. During our stay in Tokyo, we pack lightly and departure for Nikko to enjoy a one night 'Onsen-Ryoko' as it is called in Japanese, a 'hotspring excursion'. In Nikko also lies the spirit of the greatest Shogun of Edo period, the last era before modernization.
